The Firm
Yuan Tai is a Shanghai-based PRC law firm with a pre-eminent practice in asset management in China. Our firm currently has 6 partners and 20 attorneys. Partners of the firm are leading PRC qualified practitioners who have studied and worked in leading law firms in New York, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore. They are also qualified to practise law in New York, Australia and Hong Kong.
People
Our attorneys and legal assistants are experienced, ambitious, and dynamic professionals who are graduates of leading law schools in Shanghai/China, Australia, HK and the US. A number of our attorneys are some of the most well-known lawyers in the asset/fund management and financial services industry in China. They are frequent speakers at high profile conferences and events in China, HK, Singapore, Australia and are seasoned speakers and presenters at CSRC and FMC training sessions and internal seminars in Shanghai/Beijing/Shenzhen.
Asset Management & QDII
The firm has China's no. 1 practice in fund/asset management and QDII. Our client has the largest and the most dedicated team of attorneys focussing on asset management and QDII in China right now. Currently, over 35 of the 59 fund management companies (FMCs) in China and 2 out of the 5 approved QDII FMCs are clients of the firm. Our client has a 60% market share for funds work in Shanghai and a 50% market share in China. In QDII, the firm acts for 11/16 approved and to-be-approved QDII FMCs so our client has a 60-70% market share. Our client also acts for leading foreign asset managers under the ground-breaking QDII scheme. Our client has acted/acts for leading foreign asset management companies/banks/financial institutions on their JVs and equity acquisitions here in China. The firm and their attorneys are highly regarded by the CSRC, leading FMCs in China as well as their PRC/international peers in the fund/asset management practice area.

M&A/Venture Capital/Private Equity
Our firm also has a strong practice in M&A and private equity. Yuan Tai represents leading Asian and international private equity firms on their China deals as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, US and European listed companies and leading financial institutions on their investments/operations here in China - M&A, JV and strategic alliances. Our client also acts for a number of the leading listed Chinese banks, insurance companies, trust companies and financial institutions on their transactions/JV with foreign investors in China.
Position
Yuan Tai's international business group is looking for experienced, ambitious and talented attorneys to join the group. Experience in asset management and financial services is a plus.
The candidate should possess very good-excellent English language skills (written, oral and spoken) so he/she possesses the requisite experience and capability to advise and represent leading US/European/Asian financial institutions and listed companies (clients of the firm) on their China transactions.
The candidate should possess solid experience in leading and managing complex cross-border transactions and in managing/working with a team of junior lawyers on transactions. The candidate should have excellent drafting, negotiation (English and Chinese), communications and client management skills. Work experience in law firms overseas and/or as in-house legal counsel in a leading MNC or foreign financial institution in Shanghai/Beijing is a plus. The candidate should hold a LLB from a leading Chinese university - a LLM from a leading Chinese/overseas university is a plus.
